Chester are keeping their fingers crossed that former striker Jon Walters will move to a Premier League club as they eye a financial windfall of around £400,000.
Walters, 24, joined Ipswich from Chester in January 2007 and has been linked with a move to newly-promoted Stoke.
The Blues negotiated a 20% sell-on clause in the deal which saw Walters join Ipswich and it could result in the Blues landing a bumper pay-day.
Chester managing director Bob Gray told the Chester Evening Leader: "It would be great to see another of our former players plying their trade in the Premiership.
"And a financial windfall as a result of a seven-figure transfer deal would be most welcome."
