Ipswich manager Jim Magilton has been boosted by the news that David Norris and Richard Naylor are fit enough to participate in the first day of pre-season training.

Naylor is recovering from surgery to a slipped disc in his neck while Norris has been sidelined with a heel injury.

Physio Matt Byard told the club's official website: "Both Richard and David will be running with the rest of the lads.

"They will not take part in the football activities though as they need another week or so. They will both see a specialist for a final consultation and then we will push on from there.

"They will be fine for the start of the season but at the moment it's a case of monitoring them day by day."
