Former Hull manager Peter Taylor "could not be happier" for the Tigers following their promotion to the Premier League.

Taylor, installed as Wycombe manager on Thursday, steered Hull to successive promotions into the Championship before leaving the KC Stadium in June 2006.

"I couldn't be happier for them. I'm delighted for a lot of the players that were there when I first joined them and even more happier for the backroom staff, a lot of people there, who have worked really hard for the football club.

"When I first got there they were 18th in the division Wycombe are in and now all of a sudden they're in the Premiership.

"I've always been proud of what went on at Hull, but Phil Brown's taking them on and they've had an outstanding season.

"People like Campbell, Windass, Ashbee, Barmby lots of the players have had an outstanding season and the place must be absolutely rocking because it was a great place to work at for three-and-a-half years and for them to be in the Premier League because everybody there is a whole Hull City fan the place must be really rocking, I'm delighted for them."
