John Trewick is out to ensure his Hereford side are not on the receiving end of an FA Cup shock 37 years after dumping Newcastle out of the competition.
The Bulls caused arguably the greatest FA Cup upset of all-time when, as a non-League club, they defeated their top-flight opponents 2-1 in a third-round replay at Edgar Street courtesy of goals from Ronnie Radford and Ricky George.
Hereford entertain Sutton United on Saturday in this year's first round, a side who are no strangers to giantkilling themselves having famously dumped out Coventry in 1989. But Trewick wants to make sure this clash does not go down in FA Cup folklore.
"On paper we should win it, although we won't treat Sutton lightly," he told the club's official website. "Hereford have a history of giantkilling and that's exactly what Sutton will be trying to do.
"It's a good draw for us, although it's a potential banana skin obviously. People will expect us to win the game - sometimes they are the most difficult fixtures.
"We'll give Sutton the respect they deserve. But hopefully we'll get our game right and progress through to the next round."
