Hereford manager John Trewick was disappointed with his side's performance despite seeing them beat Darlington 2-1 to extend their unbeaten home run to eight games.
Keith Lowe edged Hereford in front in the 41st minute with fellow defender Darren Jones adding the second two minutes into the second half.
James Collins pulled one back for the Quakers, rifling the ball past goalkeeper Adam Bartlett from 10 yards after the Bulls had failed to clear their lines.
Bartlett, however, came to Hereford's rescue shortly afterwards when he pulled off a spectacular save to stop Matt Plummer snatching an equaliser for Darlington.
Trewick said: "Obviously I'm very pleased with the three points but we made it difficult for ourselves in the second half. We didn't control the game as much as we could have done and leaked a goal.
"We know what we want to achieve before the half stage of the season and that includes keeping clean sheets. So I am very pleased with the three points but a little bit disappointed that we didn't control the game as much as we could have done in the second half."
