Hartlepool new-boy Alan Power insists there is no reason why his side cannot win promotion to the Coca-Cola Championship this season.

Power was the first of Danny Wilson's summer signings, arriving on a free transfer following his release by newly-promoted Nottingham Forest.

Power made just one first-team appearance for Forest last season, in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, but the 20-year-old is confident Pools can emulate the Reds' feat.

Power told the Hartlepool Mail: "I would say we can definitely push for the play-offs and that will be the first thing on our minds, if not automatic promotion.

"If we get a good start to the league we can push on from there.

"The manager said we will be pushing for promotion this year and I remember watching Hartlepool last year and they were a very good passing side."
