Hartlepool director of sport Chris Turner felt a 3-3 draw was a fair result against Brighton.

Pools made it four matches without defeat after Adam Boyd gave them an early lead with a shot on the turn before Liam Dickinson levelled from the edge of the box.

Nicky Forster put Brighton ahead from six yards but poor defending allowed Andy Monkhouse to make it 2-2 and Ritchie Jones struck for Pools in first-half stoppage-time, before Forster secured a point for Brighton with a close-range finish.

Turner said: "Brighton put us under severe pressure in the second half but we didn't crack. A point is a fair slant on the game. We have a good team spirit and on another day we could have won it."

Pools had an excellent opportunity to make it three wins in a row when striker Boyd found himself in a good position late on, but he failed to take advantage.

"Boydy could have finished it," Turner admitted. "It was a great chance and he didn't realise how much time he had. But we went into the match to attack and we've been generally good defensively this season. It was a good entertaining game and we played our part in that. This was another away game when we have not been beaten."
