Manager Gary McAllister believes Leeds are on course for automatic promotion after the 3-1 defeat of Brighton took their tally to 20 points from their first 10 matches.

McAllister is convinced an average of two points a game throughout the season will be enough - and the ruthless way Leeds ended Brighton's unbeaten away record suggests they will take some stopping.

McAllister said: "Twenty points from 10 games is not bad. If you average that to the end of the season you have a good chance, but 20 out of 30 means we've dropped 10!"

Jermaine Beckford scored twice, after co-striker Lucian Becchio had broken Brighton's resistance, but it was teenage midfielder Fabian Delph who caught the eye with another virtuoso performance in midfield.

He added: "Fabian Delph has come through our academy and is an exciting talent as well as being very competitive.

"He is a natural footballer and it is good that he is learning his trade here, away from the microscope of the Premier League.

"I don't want to tempt fate by putting too much pressure on the kid. He has lots of time on his side."
