VM Sport looks at how relegation will impact on the three Premier League clubs to fall through the trap door.
1. Lost revenue - most estimates suggest that not being in the Premier League costs each club approximately £60m in lost revenue from matchday sales, advertising, TV revenue, shirt sales and more.
2. Players on the move - any decent players left at the club will be cherry-picked by Premier League clubs.

3. Contractual obligations - players on long-term contracts with huge wages still need to be paid, despite the club's income going down.
4. Fan loss - the number of fans going to each game, buying season tickets and replica shirts is bound to fall.
5. Who are yer? - the profile of the city drops as the number of visitors is cut, and the number of people abroad who get to hear about the city falls as it stops being mentioned in league round-ups.
6. Work stress - a report in 2001 suggested that relegation induces increased sickness from work, reduced productivity and increased admission to hospital from self-injury.
