Manchester City have been linked with a sensational £100 million bid for AC Milan star Kaka, with the Brazilian set to earn reported wages of £500K a week.

A website owned by Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi is reporting that a City delegation was in the city on Tuesday to open talks over the 26 year-old.

If confirmed the £100 million bid would be the most expensive transfer fee ever - smashing the previous record set when Zinedine Zidane moved to Real Madrid for £46 million in 2001.

"This time they (Manchester City) are here for real with an official delegation," said the report on the mediaset website.

"Manchester City want Kaka at all costs and they have shown their cards. Garry Cook, two representatives of Sheik Mansour and Kia Joorabchian, who is acting as a mediator, met with Adriano Galliani and Ernesto Bronzetti (Milan's chief executive and commercial director) and made their offer."

Berlusconi was not quoted in the story, but told Corriere dello Sport he does not want to sell the player.

"I know nothing about the offer, but I hope he stays at Milan," Berlusconi said.
