 It's over - Sunderland 2-0 Middlesbrough. First home win of the season for Roy Keane's men, and a personal triumph for Michael Chopra who has been through a lot of personal problems of late.

14.35 - GOAL! Another for Chopra, who struck from close range. Steed Malbranque found him easily after Sunderland beat the offside trap once the ball had bounced off a Boro defender. Hardly even enough time left to kick off. Sunderland 2-0 Middlesbrough.

14.24 - GOAL!! Michael Chopra finds some space from a through ball from Richardson and calmly slots it past Ross Turnbull - Sunderland 1-0 Middlesbrough - and how Stewart Downing will rue his spot-kick miss.

14.18 - HE'S MISSED IT!  The England winger balloons it way, way over the bar, much to the pleasure of the vast majority of the crowd.

14:17 - PENALTY! Aliadiere pushed in the box, went down a bit easily  - great chance for Boro to take the lead. Downing to step up.

14:14 - Cracking stop from Gordon after Richardson cut in to shoot. Sunderland are finding opportunities but too far out to trouble Gordon too much.

13:50 - We're off again. Malbranque and Richardson continuing to probe for Sunderland but Boro are standing firm. This game really needs a goal.

13:31 - Thank the lord - it's HALF-TIME: Sunderland 0-0 Middlesbrough.

13:27 - Aliadiere turns nicely but hits a grasscutter straight at Gordon. Roll on half-time.

Yaakov Melchett from Hull says: This could be a cracker. Both teams have got exciting attacking talent these days. Let's hope you're right ,Yak. Otherwise I'm sat here wasting two hours of my life.

13:10 - Great downward header from Cisse, even better save from Turnbull - but it wouldn't have counted, offside given.

13:04 - Great save from Craig Gordon after Downing belts in a shot after a deflected Alves free-kick. Boro looking the more likely to score.

12:59 - Afonso Alves storms into the Boro box only to be bodychecked by Teemu Tainio - no penalty given, no complaints from Boro.

12:55 - Sunderland and Middlesbrough have been at it for ten minutes now in today's early kick-off - the Black Cats have yet to win at home and today's Tees-Wear derby could be an ideal opportunity.
