Everton manager David Moyes insisted he was not disappointed despite his side suffering a 1-0 defeat to FC Sion in their opening pre-season friendly.
An under-strength Toffees side was beaten by Didier Crettenand's strike in the clash in Switzerland, but Moyes felt the week had been a success despite the loss.
"It was a good run out when you consider what we've got available to us," he told the club's official website.
"The boys did really well and we're pleased because we've worked them really hard this week up in the mountains.
"And you must remember that this was their seventh pre-season game and it was our first.
"We've had a really good week, the weather's been great and the training facilities have been first class, so we're pleased and we're looking forward to getting a few seniors back in the squad over the coming weeks."
