Darlington manager Dave Penney believes the signing of former Middlesbrough midfielder Jason Kennedy will strengthen the Quakers' squad ahead of a promotion push next season.
The 21-year-old, who was out of contract at Boro, has signed a two-year deal with Penney's side after impressing during a loan spell.
Penney said: "Jason showed his quality last season and is exactly the type of young, talented and hungry player I am looking for.
"I am delighted to have been able to tie him up on a permanent deal.
"He will add strength to the midfield, and as we saw in the play-off game against Rochdale at the Arena he will chip in with the odd spectacular goal."
