Veteran striker Dougie Freedman is desperate to regain a place in the Crystal Palace first team this season.

The 34-year-old made just five starts for the Eagles last term before a successful spell on loan at Leeds where he scored six times in 14 appearances.

Freedman has a year remaining on his contract and will meet manager Neil Warnock at the beginning of pre-season to discuss his future.

He told the club's official website: "I want to fight my way back into the team and have proved that I can still score and perform. The manager knows what I am capable of and we will wait now for the meeting."

Freedman, who has made over 300 appearances and scored 95 goals in three spells at Selhurst Park, is now gearing up for his testimonial against Fulham on Tuesday July 29.

"I want to thank the fans for what they have done for me. Not many players have disappointing games for their club and get applauded off the field but that has happened many a time to me," he added.
