Colchester winger Mark Yeates' move to Crystal Palace is in serious doubt after he failed his medical at Selhurst Park.

Eagles boss Neil Warnock has been tracking the 23-year-old Irishman for six months but the transfer has stalled after Yeates' long-term shoulder injury stopped the move from going through.

However, Warnock is refusing to rule out the possibility of resurrecting the deal in the future.

"We've spoken to Mark about a move but he has a major problem with his shoulder. It's something that needs to be sorted out, but we won't know now for another three to four weeks," Warnock told the Croydon Advertiser.

The former Spurs trainee was forced to miss the final three months of last season because of the injury.
