Former England captain and chief selector Ray Illingworth thinks Andrew Strauss will be the next England captain.
"It looks to me very much like Andrew Strauss will be the next England captain," said Illingworth. "But then the problem is whether he plays one-day cricket. I think he is good enough to play one-day cricket. That might be something Strauss wants to talk to them about as well.

Illingworth also said he had sympathy for Kevin Pietersen because it is the captain who should have the most influential say.
"I have a lot of sympathy with Kevin Pietersen and I believe a lot of what he says. Having said that, I do think he's gone the wrong way about it by leaking texts to media people that are friendly to him. I think he should have sat down with Hugh Morris and had a good discussion with him and, if there was still no agreement, he could have made his position known. But I think it could have been kept in-house for a little bit longer."
Illingworth also added that he sees similarities between the way Kevin Pietersen thinks as a captain to when he was in charge.
"Very much so. I saw myself as a one man committee and that was enough. I think England have far too many people hanging around and I don't think Pietersen believes in that. He likes to work with the players and not be drilled into physical training all the time. The captain should be in charge of what's going on."
