First-team coach Steve Holland believes Eugen Bopp is refocused and ready to make an impact for Crewe this season.

The German midfielder requested a move away from Gresty Road after seeing his chances limited last season, but is now ready to fight for his place this time around.

Holland told the club's official website: "Bopp has tried to move on but that hasn't happened and neither of us is paid to give up.

"I am so far pleased with things and he is in our plans. He has been the true professional he always is, he has all the characteristics for the role and we could do with him making an impact for us.

"I think he has a different approach to things now. Maybe the experience of not playing so much football last year has changed his outlook."
