Crewe first-team coach Steve Holland believes the club's young players can still have a part to play this season despite their summer spending.

Crewe have become one the top spenders in League One after paying out more than £300,000 for Calvin Zola and Joel Grant, as well as bringing in goalkeepers Steve Collis and Adam Legzdins, but Holland still believes the younger players can push for places.

"We've got to look at our own and see if they've improved," he told the Crewe Guardian.

"We've also got six 19-year-olds training alongside the first team this year and I think they're all talented.

"I'm only interested in improving the team and winning some games at this stage,"
