Coventry manager Chris Coleman believes the signing of Freddy Eastwood sends out a statement of intent to the rest of the Championship.
The 24-year-old joined the Sky Blues from midlands rivals Wolves for an undisclosed fee and signed a four-year deal at the Ricoh Arena.
Coventry narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of last season, but Coleman believes signing the Wales international will help deliver the dramatic improvement he craves and see the club go from strength to strength.
"It is a statement. I can't say it's not a statement because it is when you sign a player like Freddy Eastwood," said Coleman. "There are no bad international players and Freddy is the Welsh number nine. He is there on merit and you don't play for (Wales manager) John Toshack unless you can pass and receive the ball, and he does that very well.
"I don't see it going any other way to be honest, I think he is going to do very well for us. We have paid quite a bit of money for him but I am sure it is going to be well worth it for a player of his stature.
"It is a big step forward for us, but we are still looking to build and improve whether that be in this transfer window or the next one or the one after that."
