Charlton have agreed an undisclosed compensation package with Forest Green for striker Stuart Fleetwood.
Addicks boss Alan Pardew landed the 22-year-old Blue Square Premier Player of the Year last month on a three-year deal after his contract with Rovers expired.
But despite Fleetwood being a free agent, Charlton were required to pay a developmental fee to Rovers because the player is under the age of 24.
The clubs have managed to agree a fee without going to tribunal, however, and Forest Green club secretary Colin Peake said: "We are more than pleased at the outcome of our discussions with Charlton."
Part of the deal will also see the Addicks play a pre-season fixture against Rovers at their New Lawn ground in the next two years.
