New signing Ross McCormack has urged Rangers striker Kris Boyd to join him at Cardiff.

The 21-year-old striker signed a three-year contract and more than quadrupled his salary after leaving Motherwell on a Bosman free transfer.

The Scot is now hopeful fellow countryman Boyd will follow him to Wales, despite resistance from Rangers, who rejected a £2.5million bid from the Bluebirds.

McCormack told the Sunday Mail: "It would be a dream if big Boydie joined me at Cardiff. We already have Robbie Fowler and Stevie Thompson, but it would be great to play with Kris.

"He's an excellent player and could move to the Premiership if he decides to leave Rangers. But I know Cardiff are interested and it would be brilliant if he came here."
