Cardiff have bolstered their squad by the signings of Darren Dennehy and Ross McCormack while handing defender Kevin McNaughton a new contract.

Defender Dennehy, 19, joins the Bluebirds from Everton after his contract at Goodison Park expired and striker McCormack arrives from Motherwell after scoring 11 goals last term.

Meanwhile, full-back McNaughton has agreed a new three-year deal to further boost a squad chairman Peter Ridsdale believes is capable of challenging for promotion.

Ridsdale said: "This is further evidence that we are putting together a squad that can compete to gain promotion to the Premier League."
