Cardiff are waiting to hear back from Remco van der Schaaf having offered the Dutch midfielder a contract at Ninian Park.

The 29-year-old former PSV Eindhoven man could be the latest arrival through the doors in the Welsh capital as chairman Peter Ridsdale courts several more targets.

"We have offered the player terms," Ridsdale told the South Wales Echo when referring to Van der Schaaf.

"I am absolutely confident there will be new faces. We have made two new bids for players."

Ridsdale also added the club are hopeful striker Robbie Fowler will pen a new deal with the Championship outfit.

"We have also made Robbie Fowler an offer and are waiting to find out if that is acceptable," said the Bluebirds chief. "It might take a bit more talking, but Robbie wants to play for Cardiff next season and I am hopeful he will be back."
