Efe Sodje has admitted he would "love" to join Bury in the summer after being released by relegated Gillingham.

The defender, who spent nearly three months on loan at Gigg Lane at the end of this season, is up for grabs having been told he is surplus to requirements at Priestfield.

Although Sodje's wage demands could prove to be a problem for boss Alan Knill, the Nigerian is keen on a switch to the Shakers.

"I'll be speaking to the gaffer over the next week and we will see what happens," Sodje is quoted in the Bury Times. "It's 50/50 at the moment because I still have a contract with Gillingham but I have enjoyed my time here (at Bury).

"I'd love to join Bury because the manager at Gillingham has told me that he doesn't want me to play for them. It's my future, so I have to find out what I can do."
