Midfielder Chris McCann feels Burnley should look to their younger players if they are to make an impact in the Championship this season.
The Republic of Ireland Under-19 international was impressed with the way the teenage members of the squad acquitted themselves following the recent tour of America in what were difficult conditions.
McCann, 20, who came through the youth ranks at Turf Moor, played a key role in the club's second game, scoring in their 2-0 victory against Minnesota Thunder on Tuesday, and is now looking forward to the rest of pre-season.
He told the club's official website: "I know the lads from playing in the youth team myself. We all get on really well and I'd like to wish them all the best and try and help them as much as possible.
"I hope they can get in the first team and do well."
He added: "Pre-season is all about getting fitness up and it was brilliant to finish with a win and a goal for me."
