New-look Burnley striker Robbie Blake is ready to hit top form this season after shedding eight pounds during the summer.

Blake ended last term as the Clarets' leading scorer with 10 goals but admits he struggled with his form and fitness towards the end of the campaign.

Having now slimmed down considerably, he is determined to hit the ground running when the new Coca-Cola Championship season kicks off next month.

Blake said: "I have slimmed down a little and I am actually fighting fit as they say, so I'm keen now to get a few games under my belt in pre-season and hopefully start the season stronger.

"I wasn't too happy with my form towards the end of last season and I realised I needed to get back down to the weight that I wanted to be, so now I'm there hopefully I can do the business."
