Burnley skipper Steven Caldwell believes Kyle Lafferty has made a smart move in signing for Rangers.

The Belfast-born forward moved to Ibrox for £3million last month, and his former captain is confident he will be a success in Scotland.

"It is fantastic, I am pleased for him," Caldwell told Burnley's official website.

"I think he supported Rangers as a kid and I think they were a big part of his upbringing, so it's fantastic.

"I wish him all the best. He was great when he was here and I'm sure he's got a lot of improving to do and he's going to become a fantastic player in the next few years."
