Bristol Rovers' new signing Darryl Duffy is desperate to start playing matches after a tough pre-season schedule.

The striker signed a three-year deal with the Pirates after joining from Swansea for £100,000 last week.

"I'm looking forward to the games now, in fact I can't wait," he told the club's official website.

"We've been getting our base fitness during the first week and that's the worst part of a pre-season training as we've done a lot of running and I have acquired a great many blisters and my legs are killing me!

"However we all recognise that the hard work is necessary and is what's needed before going into games.

"Whatever people might say, though, it's not really possible to replicate match fitness in training so after this weekend all the boys will be looking forward to matches."
