Striker Darryl Duffy admitted he needed to quit Swansea for the sake of his career following his £100,000 move to Bristol Rovers.

The 24-year-old Scot has signed a three-year deal with the Pirates.

He joined the Swans on a permanent basis from Hull for £200,000 last July after a brief loan spell and scored seven goals in just over 30 appearances at the Liberty Stadium.

Duffy said: "It's taken a while for the contract details to be sorted, but now I can sign and carry on with my career.

"I think coming here is something I had to do to stand a chance of playing first team football on a regular basis. Hopefully, if I do well enough, I can do that here.

"I was at Swansea for 14 months, so I guess you could say that it was short and sweet. The biggest factor in my move was that I just wanted to play football."
