Brighton manager Micky Adams is looking forward to seeing his new players in action for the first time when they take on Athlone in their first pre-season friendly.
Newcomers David Livermore, Adam Virgo, Colin Hawkins and AFC Wimbledon trialist Michael Haswell are all included in the squad but Kevin McLeod, Glenn Murray and Doug Loft did not make the trip due to injury.
Adams told the club's official website: "We're looking at a game where perhaps everyone will get 45 minutes, and I'll learn something about the players from a performance point of view rather than just seeing them in training.
"You can do as much training as you want on the training ground, but you don't really find out about players until they're put in a game situation."
"Some of the players I haven't worked with before, so it will be interesting to see how they are in a game."
