Brighton manager Micky Adams is hoping to further strengthen his squad with the addition of a defender.
The Seagulls boss, also close to appointing another member to his backroom staff, completed the signing of David Livermore earlier this week.
Adams told the club's official website: "Everybody is aware we are short of a left-back. But we do have the versatility of David Livermore, who can do that job, so it's not a big thing we have to worry about.
"Having said that we do have a couple of irons in the fire."
Adams added: "I also want somebody to work particularly with the youth and reserve teams and bring them up to standard.
"I'm very happy at the moment with Dean White as my assistant manager. We will be adding a coach to the football club staff in the very near future, hopefully by Monday."
