John Spicer insisted the chance to play for manager Sean O'Driscoll again played a huge part in his decision to join newly-promoted Doncaster.

The midfielder attracted interest from a host of clubs after being released by Burnley, but opted to be reunited with O'Driscoll and assistant-manager Richard O'Kelly, both of whom he worked with at Bournemouth.

"I'm delighted with the move to be honest," Spicer told the club's official website.

"I watched Doncaster in the play-offs and I could see the way they moved the ball about, and I know Rich and Sean and I know they like to play football.

"It's nice to come to a manager who knows you already. You know them as well, you know how they work and what their strengths are. They like to play the right way, which is the way I like to play."
