New Brighton boss Micky Adams will not be offering any immediate reprieves to the players who have been released by the club.

Adams had suggested he would review the retained list after he took over from Dean Wilkins in a surprise return to the south-coast side at the end of last week.

Wilkins released a total of 10 players including experienced trio Guy Butters, Gary Hart and Kerry Mayo, but they will not be among the squad members brought in for fitness assessments this week.

"That's not the case. We will judge everyone on their own merits and decide where we go from there," Adams told the Argus.

"I know there has been comment about some experienced players being released. When I've fully assessed the squad, then I might make some telephone calls."
