Craig Bentham admits he has a point to prove when his former club Bradford take on Farsley Celtic at Throstle Nest this week.
Bentham and fellow midfielder Tom Penford were both released by Bantams manager Stuart McCall in April and will be looking to win promotion back to the Blue Square Premier with Farsley next season.
He told Bradford's official website: "I don't think I've got anything to prove to myself. But maybe if I have a good game on Wednesday, it might prove something to one or two others.
"It will seem a bit strange playing against them. Bradford are all I've ever known since I was young. It will be good to see some of the old faces again. It's weird not being in pre-season with them."
Bentham added: "Maybe, if I'm honest, I didn't try hard enough to get my chance. I don't feel as if I did myself justice because I didn't get that many games, with just one start and three appearances as a sub.
"It was a frustrating way to end, like the time I had out injured. You get disappointments like that and it is difficult, but overall I enjoyed all the years I was at the club."
