New youth-team coach Chris Casper is relishing the chance of working alongside Stuart McCall and Wayne Jacobs.
Casper, 33, sacked as Bury boss in January, has also admitted he does not see his new post at Valley Parade as a step backwards.
He told the club's official website: "There is added pressure with the first team. You get that adrenaline buzz, but there are also times when things are out of your hands which you can't affect, but you still get judged on the results.
"On the youth side, you get judged on what players you are bringing through and it's a longer process - but I really enjoy the coaching side on the training ground and being more hands on helping to develop the young lads."
He added: "The manager has recognised that to take the club forward, not only do you need a strong first team but also the foundations to back that up as well.
"I could see the potential of the club and Stuart McCall and Wayne Jacobs came across as really professional. I'm looking forward to being part of hopefully a successful season."
