Lee Sinnott has confirmed Port Vale are chasing Barnsley midfielder Simon Heslop.

The 21-year-old has made just one substitute appearance since joining the Tykes in January 2006, but has enjoyed loan spells at Tamworth, Northwich and Halifax over the last two seasons.

Sinnott told the club's official website: "We have registered an interest in Simon but as yet we haven't spoken to the player."

Vale have travelled to Uxbridge to continue their pre-season preparations at an RAF camp, but Sinnott has remained at the club in an attempt to pursue various transfer targets.

"I'm not sure when I will join them as there is still plenty to be done here," he added. "We are still trying to bring of couple of players in."
