Barnsley manager Simon Davey stressed he "has a job to do here" after being linked with the role of Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant.

Current number two at Old Trafford Carlos Queiroz is expected to take over as Portugal coach this summer and Tykes manager Davey has been reported to be among a list of possible replacements.

Davey told Barnsley's official website: "It is flattering to be linked with a club of such stature, but I have a job here.

"We must be doing something right if I'm being linked with jobs like this.

"We still have a long way to go at Oakwell and we're all looking forward to the new season."
