Heinz Muller and Anderson De Silva hope to return to full fitness in time for the opening day of the new season.

Tykes goalkeeper Muller and midfield playmaker De Silva missed the latter stages of last season due to serious knee injuries and are well on the road to recovery following surgery.

Michael Coulson, who suffered knee ligament damage in April, is also progressing well, but is not expected back in action until Christmas.

Davey told PA Sport: "All three are ready to report for pre-season training. They've undergone rehab throughout the summer and are now in the advanced stages.

"I'm not sure who will be ready for the start of the season, but it's a real boost to know that we'll soon have them all back in the side."
