Zenit St Petersburg are not in talks with any club regarding the transfer of playmaker Andrei Arshavin.

Weekend reports suggested the Russia star was on his way to Chelsea or Arsenal but Zenit confirmed in a statement no negotiations have taken place as yet.

The club also stated Spanish giants Barcelona are the only club to have made an official approach for the player.

"FC Zenit informs everyone that, as of this moment, there are no negotiations about Andrei Arshavin's transfer to any club," read a statement on Zenit's website.

"The only request about the possibility of the forward's transfer was the offer from Barcelona.

"Information in the media about Zenit's negotiations with Chelsea is not corresponding to the truth."
